I am continually inspired by the beauty of design in the natural world as well as clean design classics together with contemporary design.

When I am asked to design a new anything, I looked to fulfil a set of criteria:

  • it must be functional
  • it must look good
  • I must be able to make it myself

Birch Plywood is a lovely material to work with. FSC certified ply is affordable and has a great finish.

Desk lamp

White LEDs in my prototype give a reasonable amount of light but I’m working on V2.

Mixer light

A variation on the desk lamp theme.

Large ceiling lamp

Yes I know there are many of these around in the world but I couldn’t find one that was big enough and that I could afford. The lamp is almost 75cm/30″ in diameter.

A few hours (OK many hours) later…

The bulb is a lovely old fashioned inefficient Edison style bulb – if/when this blows, I may replace if with an LED filament lamp but if it’s warming the room slightly while I’m in it, I don’t really see the drawback!
